Dr. Samuel A Mudd House Museum

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this old-fashioned farmhouse has been in the same family since the 1690s. Also known as "St. Catherine", it was here that the owner of the house, Dr. Samuel A. Mudd, treated John Wilkes Booth after his assassination of President Lincoln in 1865. Today, you can take a guided tour of the historic home and see what life was like in rural Maryland. The museum highlights the history of the Mudd family through artifacts, photos, and furniture. Our hotel is just a quick drive away from the Dr. Mudd House Museum.

This quaint farmhouse has a long and fascinating history that dates back to the 1600s. It was a plantation for many years, and is one of the few in Maryland that has been in the same family for over two centuries. It was later turned into a museum to help preserve local culture.
  • What was Dr Mudd's role in the lincoln assasination?

Dr. Mudd was a controversial figure who was arrested and imprisoned for conspiracy after the death of President Lincoln. He treated Lincoln's assassin, John Wilkes Booth, for a broken leg in April of 1865 as he fled authorities. Historians differ as to Mudd's involvement in the plot.
